Welcome message from the chair of our society

Dear friends and colleagues,

On behalf of the Japanese Society of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding, I am delighted to welcome you to the 10th Anniversary International Symposium of Japanese Society of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding. The planning of this symposium was steadily progressing with Professor Tsumura as the chair, however, it was postponed due to the influence of COVID-19, and we will finally hold it this year.

The title of symposium is “Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding: Past progress and Future prospects”, and in this symposium, we have invited five outstanding keynote speakers on Forest Genetics and Forest Tree Breeding; Prof. David B Neale from the USA, Dr. Shanshan Zhu and Prof. Yingxiong Qiu from China, Dr. Makoto Takahashi and Prof. Yoshihisa Suyama from Japan. I am confident that this symposium will provide you with a unique opportunity to learn the latest findings in these scientific fields and link them with your on-going research activities. This symposium will be held as a part of Division 2 activity in IUFRO (2.02.23; Breeding and genetic resources of Asian conifers).

Last but not least, I sincerely hope this unstable international situation will be improved as soon as possible so that you, your family, and your friend will be able to live safely and carry out research activities without any problems.
